Membership Application Process

Application for BTP Student Membership

Students at any point in their Ph.D. program and from any department or any lab may participate in the BTP Program as members. Membership in the BTP entitles you to participation in all BTP events, and makes you eligible for travel fellowships. Becoming a member of the BTP is required to be eligible for a traineeship. The application process for a BTP traineeship is different from the membership process and is detailed here.

Required Documents to apply for BTP Membership

  • Completed Membership BTP Membership Student Application
  • Transcripts: Undergraduate and Graduate
  • Letter of support from UMass faculty advisor stating their support for your membership.
  • One-page summary of your research, emphasizing relevance to biotechnology and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Application for BTP Faculty Membership

At this time we do not anticipate adding new BTP faculty as we seek to keep the size of BTP faculty commensurate with the number of NIH and UMASS traineeships we have available. Nevertheless, we occasionally have openings for new BTP faculty. We are always mindful of adding faculty with a strong connection to biotechnology and engaging faculty who are not committed to other NIH and NSF funded graduate training programs.
