nehagupta@vasci.umass.edu
Graduate Program: Veterinary and Animal Sciences
Lab: Rafael FissoreResearch Interests:  Egg activation, the first stage of embryo development, involves calcium oscillations triggered by sperm-specific phospholipase C zeta (PLCζ), with TRPM7 identified as critical for pre-implantation development. This project focuses on characterizing TRPM7 expression in gametes and embryos, investigating its role in embryonic cleavage and arrest, and exploring its potential for optimizing IVF outcomes and developing non-hormonal contraceptives.
